VAM UnderConstruction

Susan's painting "Crosswalk" won 2nd Prize at Visual Arts Mississauga's new juried exhibition, "UnderConstruction" hosted in partnership with Mississauga Central Library.

Jurors comments:

The painting's striking composition of crisp blocks of colour and line engages the viewer to take a walk into the construction tunnels just as they would down any city street. The bright orange of the huddled construction stands are juxtaposed against this quiet and desolate street, enticing the viewer to wonder if construction has just wrapped up or is about to start. The attention to detail and presentation is professional and decisive, making the artwork an over-all stand out in this exhibition.

From the jurors:

Susan’s painting is compelling. There is an intriguing sense of imbalance that draws one into the depth of the mysterious landscape. The colours are rich and the medium is beautifully handled.
~ Laura Culic
Fascinating play of line, light and colour. Is there a line in the water or is it a mirage? Where does reality begin? Captivating piece.
